Upcoming Events: July 2021

Can you believe it’s July already? I don’t know about you, but it’s been crazy getting out in public and seeing people’s faces again. The one thing, however, that I really enjoyed during the pandemic was not having people up your ass while standing on a line. People are back to crowding and shoving while you are standing in lines. The news is reporting that the COVID-19 Delta variant is catching hold and doing some real damage across the world in places where people are not yet vaccinated – and that includes here in the American south. We’re not completely out of the woods yet. It did take over 3 years for the Spanish Flu to get under control, and that was with far inferior science and technology than we have now. So, still be a little careful and continue wash your hands and not cough on people.

Here’s What’s Going On

We have over 50 events on the calendar for July! Elysium is finally back. They had a few shows in June and have some more planned for July including a new event called Nightlife. Valhalla is back with punk and metal shows every Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Kick Butt’s schedule is filling up. Come and Take It Live is still pumping our shows 3-4 days a week. The Lost Well has at least one show a week. There’s a new brewery in Austin called the Meanwhile Brewery that started holding events in June and starting July is holding punk and metal shows a couple days a month. Austin’s HorrorWeb will be screening their short film “The Witch’s Bargain” along with several other horror short films. The Curia Arcanum is reopening at their new South Congress location on July 3rd. Bloody Rose and Yarrow and Sage are having their market events. Oilcan Harry’s and the Iron Bear continue to host drag, kink, fetish and burlesque shows. Mohawk, Hole in the Wall, Empire Control Room, Swan Dive, Hotel Vegas and other places are doing shows, but nothing in July that is really interesting to the dark alternative community.
