When the cast and crew of the legendary 1931 Bela Lugosi-starring Dracula left the set each day, another team of filmmakers arrived – the cast and crew of the Spanish-language Drácula being produced simultaneously for foreign markets. The film was released in Cuba in 1931 and was then considered lost for decades – until a print was found in a Cuban cinematheque in the 1990s and made available to classic horror fans, many of whom now consider it superior to the Lugosi version.
